ACT at a Glance
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) [pronounced like the word "act"] is a powerful approach to help any individual live a more meaningful life by focusing on what truly matters to them. ACT encourages embracing thoughts and feelings instead of avoiding or forcefully changing them while taking steps toward personal growth.
ACT at its core involves
-
Acceptance: Learning to make room for emotions and experiences, even the challenging ones. Important to note is that acceptance does not mean tolerance. Acceptance will only work if a person takes realistic action toward valued goals.

-
Mindfulness: Staying present and fully engaged in the moment more often.

-
Values: Identifying what's important to you and guiding realistic actions based on those values.

-
Action: Taking meaningful, realistic steps toward goals, even when it's hard.
ACT's Mission
To empower children and adults to build emotional and behavioral resilience, cope with life's challenges, and create a life filled with purpose and joy.
Flexibility of ACT
Whether you're a parent, caregiver, or teacher, ACT provides simple, practical tools to support emotional well-being and fosters positive behaviors in children.
